Jill Update

The purpose of this weblog was to keep Jill's family and friends current on her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jill passed away on January 20, 2013 after a 10 year battle against the disease and the side effects of her many treatments. This blog will now serve as a memorial to Jill. Please feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy American Thanksgiving to everyone.

The plans I outlined in my last entry have all been changed (several times). Jill's insurance company has denied coverage on the planned bone marrow transplant because it is considered investigational. We have appealed the decision and are now waiting for their response. We hope to hear from them next week. Jill's medical team believes that the treatment is essential to Jill's recovery.

Scott and I are in Seattle this week to celebrate Thanksgiving. The weather has been cool but sunny and Jill is feeling quite well, so we have been able to get out and do some walking. Yesterday we took a short hike in Discovery Park and played several games of pool. Today we plan to get out and walk some more.

Waiting for the transplant has been very frustrating but we are thankful for the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving together. We are ready to get on with the transplant and hopeful that the insurance problems will be resolved soon.
