Jill Update

The purpose of this weblog was to keep Jill's family and friends current on her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jill passed away on January 20, 2013 after a 10 year battle against the disease and the side effects of her many treatments. This blog will now serve as a memorial to Jill. Please feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

Tired but Doing Well

Jill has now had two full weeks of physical therapy as well as several Team In Training (TNT) recruiting meetings. Sylvia reports that Jill finds the extra activity tiring but feels the physical therapy is making a difference and enjoys making presentations to the TNT meetings.

Those of you who know Jill know, or can imagine, how effective she is at public speaking. I am sure that she has inspired many people to get involved with TNT and to stick to their training. You can learn more about Team in Training at http://www.teamintraining.org/. One person that Jill has inspired is her brother Harley. Harley will run the Chicago Marathon in October. His webpage is http://www.active.com/donate/tntil/Harley.

Thursday is Jill's 33rd birthday. As I prepared to write this entry I reread the comments that you, Jill's friends and acquaintances, have added to the blog over the last year. I was reminded of all the kind and encouraging thoughts that people have shared over the years and all the affection they have for Jill. These expressions have been very helpful to Jill. Keep up to good work!

I was also reminded of all the things that have happened in the last year. A year ago Jill was cancer free and was considering her third transplant to prevent a recurrence. Over the year since her 32nd birthday the cancer came back, she had another round of treatment followed by her third transplant, spent 7 months in Seattle and then returned to Boise. It was a tough year but so far it looks like the procedure has been successful, which makes it all worthwhile.

Best,

tom
