Jill Update

The purpose of this weblog was to keep Jill's family and friends current on her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jill passed away on January 20, 2013 after a 10 year battle against the disease and the side effects of her many treatments. This blog will now serve as a memorial to Jill. Please feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

More treatment needed

Jill found out recently that her cancer has returned. She had a biopsy Friday October 6th and got the diagnosis the following week. Fortunately, Jill found the cancer before it had spread very far. We aren't sure exactly what the treatment will involve but she will start with a chemotherapy treatment on Tuesday, October 24th. Jill is recovering well from last year's transplant. She is going into this treatment feeling better than she has felt going into any of the previous treatments. I will resume regular updates as we have more information.

This week I flew out to spend some time with Jill, Scott and Sylvia before the treatments start. I got to see some of the things that Jill has been doing lately including volunteer work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, particularly their Team in Training program. On Friday we went to the airport to see the Team In Training runners off to San Francisco to take part in the Women’s Marathon, A Race to Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can find out more about the marathon and the Team in Training program at http://www.teamintraining.org/all_page?item_id=12387. We also visited with Scott's family and went geocaching.
