Jill Update

The purpose of this weblog was to keep Jill's family and friends current on her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jill passed away on January 20, 2013 after a 10 year battle against the disease and the side effects of her many treatments. This blog will now serve as a memorial to Jill. Please feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

Latest Tests Good

Jill continues to prepare for her next treatment. Her doctor performed a biopsy of her bone marrow. It remains cancer-free and they can now go ahead with plans for radiation. The radiation staff is preparing a plan for treatment and she should start the radiation sometime this week. The plan is to give her 5 treatments of radiation per week for about 8 weeks. They will irradiate nearly all of her lymph nodes. Jill will get the treatment entirely in Boise so it will be convenient and less taxing than having to go to another treatment center as she did last year. The doctors will reassess at the end of this period and decide what additional treatments are needed.

Jill is feeling quite well. She continues to receive occasional blood transfusions to maintain enough red blood cells. She has much more energy and feels better after they give her blood. Jill, Sylvia and Scott are enjoying the nicer early spring weather in Boise by walking whenever they can.

Feeling good but more treatments ahead

Jill has been feeling great. It has been almost four weeks since her last blood transfusion and she still has lots of energy. She has been working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to recruit for the next Team in Training season. The new participants worked out together for the first time this weekend and Jill, Scott and Sylvia walked with them. However, the latest scans showed that there are still cancerous tissues remaining following the series of chemo treatments she has been taking since last fall. So Jill's medical team will start a new type of treatment soon. We should know more about the plans by the next blog entry.
I have added a nice photo taken by one of the runners in the Disney half marathon last month.

It has been very wintry in both Missouri and Idaho the last few weeks. We hope you are all keeping warm and safe where ever you are.
