Jill Update

The purpose of this weblog was to keep Jill's family and friends current on her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jill passed away on January 20, 2013 after a 10 year battle against the disease and the side effects of her many treatments. This blog will now serve as a memorial to Jill. Please feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

Happy Birthday Jill

Hi everyone,

Today is Jill's 32nd birthday. As she says, "another milestone." She would love to hear from you.

She and Sylvia are flying out to Seattle this afternoon to consult with the staff at the Hutcheson Center tomorrow. They will discuss alternatives for treatments to reduce the chances of recurrences of her cancer.

Summer 2007

In my last blog entry I said that the next entry would describe Jill's next treatment plan, but I still don't have anything to report. Jill plans to travel to Seattle in about a week for tests and to meet with the oncology team at Fred Hutchinson, where she got her second transplant. Based on these tests and discussions, the Hutchinson team will make recommendations and Jill will decide on next steps. It will probably be several weeks yet before a plan is in place.

Since my last entry, Jill has been enjoying her summer. In June, she hosted a college friend for a few days. In July Jill, Scott and Sylvia took a two week trip to Saskatchewan to visit family. They spent a week in Saskatoon and a week at the Johnson farm near Moose Jaw. The trip was tiring but they had a great visit with family.

Since their return from Saskatchewan, Jill has been resting, recovering her strength and enjoying summer in Boise. She and Scott spent a day in Twin Falls visiting Scott’s grandma, aunt and uncle. Jill continues to volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. Sylvia and she work to build Jill’s stamina by walking and to going to Curves among other things. Scott has been playing soccer throughout the summer.

Medically, Jill is still receiving regular blood transfusions and fluids and she continues to recover from her last radiation treatment. She had a trip set to visit Harley and his family in Illinois but had to cancel because she seems to have pneumonia. The doctors caught it quickly and she hopes to be clear to go to her appointment in Seattle later this month.

Hopefully we will know what treatment Jill has in front of her before the next blog entry. I hope you have all enjoyed your summer.
