May Report
It has been over 7 weeks since my last post. There hasn't been much news to report. Jill has spent the last few months settling into her new home and getting accustomed to her new medical team. She has been able to do a little more all the time. She is getting regular (although brief) exercise. The weather has been very nice which lets her get out for short walks.
Medically, Jill is making slow progress. She has not needed a blood transfusion since January. This is very good because it means her iron levels are falling back from their very high levels. She has avoided any infections over this period which is also very helpful. She has occasional bouts of GVHD which require adjustments to her meds.
Harley and Amy found an article in the New York Times which describes how slow and frustrating recovery from bone marrow transplants and stem cell transplants can be. I have added a link to the article in case you would like to read it.
